A pleasant Friday to you!

The above photo, our bulletin cover for Sunday, is a Brazen Serpent Sculpture by Giovanni Fantoni on Mt. Nebo. It rests outside remains of a 6th c. Byzantine monastery which is now a Franciscan monastery and home of the Memorial Church of Moses. You may recall the significance of Mt. Nebo being where Moses saw the Promised Land but was told he would not enter it. It’s also the site of the passage from Numbers 21 that we’ll read from this week (Snakes! Why’d it have to be snakes?!?)

Here are Sunday’s texts:

Numbers 21:4-9

Ps 107:1-3; 17-22

John 3:14-21

It’s also Communion Sunday, so as Jeremy would remind me to remind you, the sermon will be shorter!!! John Wesley would remind us that receiving Communion is a “converting ordinance,” an opportunity for us to be touched just as much as the words of the sermon. So I think all shall be well (a nod to Julian of Norwich!)

We’re halfway through Lent, so I remind folks that now is the time to plan for Easter lilies in the Sanctuary. You may place them in honor or in memory of someone. Call the church office, mail or email Lee via info@TrinityWAVL.org with your specific designation information no later than March 26 to be named in the bulletin. Lilies are $10 each. Checks payable to TUMC - please note “Easter lily” on the memo line.

Also, Saturday night - don’t forget to spring forward one hour! Daylight Savings Time begins!

See you Sunday, and if not, know we will miss you!

Peace~
