An eNote from Rodney

Dear Trinity Congregation,
You may have noticed that Paul Sprouse worshiped with us several weeks ago. Paul is a member here but he lives in Raleigh with his wife. It was Paul who did such a wonderful repair job on the front steps. Well, when Paul is around he will stop by and do some patching or detail work on the steps. Thank you Paul, for the original work you did and for the tune ups you give our steps.

While we are thanking folks I want to thank the Biggers for the flowers they put in the sanctuary in my honor several weeks ago and also thank the mystery flower giver who put flowers in the sanctuary for Cheryl. Both were lovely gestures and they were greatly appreciated.

Nolan Anthony, Trinity’s organist, and Christopher Tavernier will perform Camille SaintSaëns’ “Carnival of the Animals” and other selections TWICE. First, at the Chapman Cultural Arts Center, 200 East St. John St, Spartanburg, SC on Saturday, August 27th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 to $10. Second, at the Diana Wortham Theater in Asheville on Saturday, September 3rd at 7 p.m. Tickets are $9.50. Seating is limited at the Asheville concert.

The lectionary Gospel lesson for Sunday is about building bigger barns for all that we have. Jesus advises against doing that. We will look at this passage in the sermon. The lesson is found at Luke 12:13-21.

For Little Red Wagon in August we will be taking up supplies for backpacks for Hall Fletcher Elementary School. There will be a list items needed in the August Newsletter that will be coming to you soon.

Our youth will be returning from their mission week at Hinton Rural Life Center this afternoon. We look forward to hearing how their week went. I hope to see you on Sunday.

Sincerely,
Rodney
