An eNote from Rodney

Dear Trinity Congregation,

Man, West Virginia almost did it last night. I like small religious schools so I like Gonzaga but what a game! March is here and it’s beautiful today and we are in the midst of the madness (and I’m a little mad at that other Carolina) and I hope you are enjoying it a little. Ethical question: do I pull for the team that beat my team so that at least we got beat by the best or do I just hope they go down in flames?

So that you have it on your calendar, our Maundy Thursday service is on April 13 at 6:30pm. That service is preceded by the Youth’s Seder Meal at 5:30. To find out about the Seder meals contact Lee or Andrew at the church and sign up for one. The next evening, April 14, we will be at Groce UMC for a Good Friday service with other United Methodist churches in Asheville. That service is at 6:00pm. Easter Sunday is a wonderful day here at Trinity. It starts with a Sunrise Service in the front yard of Tom and Mary Jo Harrison. They live at One Glen Falls Road in North Asheville. The house is at the west end of Beaver Lake and the sun comes up over the lake. There will be coffee and donuts. Dress warmly, and we will start gathering at 6:30 am and we anticipate sunrise at 7:16 am. The actual service will start a bit before sunrise. Then around 10:00 there will be an Easter Egg hunt in the church yard. Worship is at 11:00 am and as we sing the opening hymn we bring forward white lilies and our Lenten folders. It is a fine morning and invite your friends to any and all of these services.

We hope you are remembering your Lenten Coin Folders. The proceeds will be split between ABCCM, Western Carolina Rescue Ministry, Meals on Wheels and The Haywood Street Mission.

Keep our confirmation class in your prayers this weekend. Andrew and Brooks Buddy are taking them to Lake Junaluska for a confirmation retreat. Andrew says this is a well-done retreat and an excellent experience for the youth.

Well, there’s nothing to do this weekend except go to church and maybe watch that basketball game tonight at 7:09 pm. Cheryl and I may have some of the kids up for a visit. To all my Carolina friends, best of luck. I’ll see you on Sunday morning.

Sincerely,

Rodney
