Dear Trinity Congregation,

Does anyone have a bracket still intact?  Did anyone pick Yale to beat Baylor?  No you didn’t.

On the bulletin cover last Sunday and this are prints by the Japanese artist Sadao Watanabe.  Watanabe was a Christian with a distinctive visual style.  His subjects were characters and events from the bible.  You can find his work online and his smaller pieces can be affordable for an artist of his stature.  There is a retired missionary at Brooks Howell who worked in Japan.  She came home with a large Watanabe that hangs in one of their hallways.

This is a Little Red Wagon Sunday.  Because it is Palm Sunday and the children will be bringing in the palms during the singing of the first hymn, we are going to leave the wagon at the altar rail.  There will be some youth to help you put your food gifts in the wagon. For the month of March we will collect snacks for Hall Fletcher School. Items needed include:  juices, crackers of any kind, granola, cereal bars, fruit cups, snack packs, pretzels, popcorn, Cheez-its, Goldfish, fruit roll ups, any non-perishable foods, etc. Thank you for your help and generosity with these collections.

Are you an amateur photographer?  When we have church events it would be helpful to have some quality pictures to put on our website.  If you have the gear and desire to do this please let the church office know.

For the last several years I have used Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem as the Palm Sunday sermon topic.  This Sunday I am going into the interior of the story and look at Peter’s denial of Jesus during the night of Jesus arrest.  As we enter Holy Week it’s important to remember that the week does not go from the triumph of Palm Sunday to the triumph of Easter Sunday.  Before God defeats death on Easter morning there is the willful arrogance of human power killing God on Good Friday.  The scripture is Luke 22:54-62

Here are our Holy Week Services

Maundy Thursday:  If mid-week you wish to remember that Jesus suffers before he is raised we will have a service on Thursday night, March 24th at 6:30.  This service will remember Jesus final 24 hours before his execution.   There will be childcare for this service.

Sunrise Service:  At 7:30 on Easter Sunday morning at the home of Tom and Mary Joe Harrison. Their home is at the north end of Beaver Lake and the address is 1 Glenn Falls Road.  The church bus will leave the church for the Harrison’s at 7:00am if you would like to ride it.

Easter Egg Hunt: Will be on Easter Sunday morning at 10:00am in the front yard of the church. We will have it indoors if it rains.

Easter Worship Service: Will be at 11:00 in the sanctuary.

I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday morning.

Sincerely,

Rodney
