An eNote from Rodney: Vacation Edition

Dear Trinity Congregation,

Greetings from North Topsail Beach. I am at The Daily Grind Coffee Shop this morning. It has two things going for it this year. The internet service at our house is weak, so I’m using the shop’s internet in the morning. The other plus for the Daily Grind is its apple fritter - as good as I’ve ever had.  We have had mostly good weather though we may get some rain later today. But with three six year olds in the house it’s never slow.

This is Red Wagon Sunday and we are collecting for Hall Fletcher Elementary School. Hall Fletcher is a year around school now but this collection is like their fall going back to school collection. These are items the teachers and students need. You are always so generous with this collection and Hall Fletcher is grateful. Lee sent out a list of items earlier in the week and he has also put thelist of desired items on the church website.

Save the Date: On Sunday August 28, while the choir will be on its summer break, the Trinity Strings are going to play a few numbers and we will sing a couple of oletimey congregational hymns. After the service we will go downstairs for some barbeque. The church will have the Q, chips, a little slaw, buns and drinks. We are inviting you to bring a salad, slaw, side or dessert. $5.00 a plate and no more than $20 per family. The youth will put it together and serve it and keep the profits for their mission fund. Sounds like fun. We will have a reservation form in the bulletin to help us get an idea of how many will eat lunch. You can also call the office at 828-253-5471 Ext 101.

This Sunday Cathi Durham will conduct the worship service and The Rev. Luke Lingle will preach. Luke is a talented young man and so give him a good Trinity welcome. The special music on Sunday will be Karl Ruch playing some of his own music. I gotta tell you folks, this is going to be a good Sunday.

Cheryl and I are enjoying our time away but we also look forward to being back with you the middle of next week.  Again, thank you for this time away and may your worship together on Sunday encourage your faith.

Sincerely,
Rodney
