In an effort to share The Story of Trinity (old and new) we have asked members to share a few words about their walk with God. Here is Alberta Starnes story.
I joined the West Asheville Methodist Church when I was 9 years old. It was 1939. The name was changed to Trinity later. I helped with Vacation Bible School and since I could play the piano, I played in several classes.
In those days, not many had a car so we walked or rode the bus. Bus fare was 6 cents.
As the men came back from World War II, there was the GI Bill and some men chose to go to school. They built homes. The interest rate was 4%. We had a thing called “sub-district.” We met with rural churches.
I joined the choir at age 15 and stayed 60 years. We had radio, but no TV. I was married in 1950 at Trinity and had all our children christened here. I will have my celebration of Life at Trinity and be buried at Green Hills Cemetery.
This church has been a strong fortress all my life.
As I am adding this post to our website I was overcome with emotion and brought to tears as I read:
I will have my celebration of Life at Trinity and be buried at Green Hills Cemetery.
This church has been a strong fortress all my life.
Trinity is filled with these kinds of stories. Come join us one Sunday morning and I will introduce you to Alberta.
