Rodney’s Weekly Enote

An eNote from Rodney

Dear Trinity Family,

As I write this, Andrew is downstairs waiting for the young children to come in for the last day of Bible School. The younger children have been playing games and they built birdhouses that look like little churches. Their lessons for the week looked at famous friendships in the bible. The older children went to places like Greenworks River CleanUp where they pulled an Ingles shopping cart from the river. They also picked green beans and raspberries at The Lord’s Acre and the produce was distributed to families in need. They helped build a garden on Thursday and then went swimming. Thank you to Andrew and Jessica Tripp, Lindsay Pharr, Hope Meinhardt, and Jane Anne Dempsey for all your help.

Here’s a fun note. Our own Kathryn Brickey will be celebrating the release of her first CD this evening. Kathryn will be playing with her dad Bryce and other friends at 7:00 p.m. at Zuma Cafe in the heart of downtown Marshall, NC. Zuma Cafe is across the street from the courthouse.

For about 25% of the pastors in The Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, this Sunday will be the last Sunday they spend with their congregations. Next Tuesday, June 30th, will be moving day. Pastors and their families will wake up in one parsonage, spend the day moving and go to sleep that night in the parsonage of their new church. Moving day can be hard and full of emotion for everyone involved. Please hold all the pastors, their families and their new churches in your prayers.

Save the Dates:

Friday, July 3rd, 7:00 p.m.: The Asheville Jazz Orchestra will play a concert of Patriotic and American Big Band Jazz music. The concert is free and a collection will be taken with all proceeds split between the band and the Veterans ministries of ABCCM. Tell your friends about the concert or better yet, come and bring them.

Sunday July 12th: The music for this Sunday will be performed by the Trinity Strings and after the worship service we will have a church barbeque lunch. The price of lunch is $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. There will be a slip of paper in the bulletin this week to make a reservation on or you can call the church office at 253-5471, ext. 101 and make a reservation with Lee Thomas.

We will close our worship service this Sunday with a blessing of the Dominican Republic Mission Team. They will be flying out of Charlotte next Tuesday for the D.R.; we want to wish them well and hold them in our prayers while they are gone.

I am told that a lovely cool front is on its way for the weekend. Let’s hope and I will see you on Sunday morning.

Sincerely,
Rodney
