An eNote from Rodney

Dear Trinity Congregation,

What a great Sunday we had last week. Confirming new Christians into the Church is a wonderful thing. Andrew Tripp has done a great job with our confirmation classes. Thanks to all the faith friends for the time you gave to your confirmands. Also a thank you to Brooks and Seth Buddy who had the conformation class and their families over to their house for a covered dish lunch after the service. It was a beautiful day and a lot of fun.

Speaking of a beautiful day, our church-wide picnic at Camp Tekoa is scheduled for May 21st from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. The church will provide hot dogs and hamburgers, but the congregation is asked to bring sides and desserts. We will have access to a lot of the camp’s features including swimming, zip-lining, canoes, and paddle boats. There will also be rocking chairs for those who want to just sit. Mark your calendars for this wonderful afternoon of fellowship and fun. Tate and Rodney are ready to fire up the grill but if anyone would like to help us grill burgers & dogs let me (Rodney) know. Bring friends and family

Little Red Wagon: .For the month of May, we will collect items for Asheville Middle School pantry: canned fruits, cereals, juices, crackers of any kind, granola, fruit, cereal bars, fruit cups, snack packs, any non-perishable foods. Remember, you can bring the items on any Sunday or drop them off during the regular church office hours in the week. However on the third Sunday (Red Wagon Sunday), please keep them with you at your pew and place them in the wagon when the children come around during the opening hymn.

On Sunday June 4th, Pentecost Sunday, the Youth will be hosting their 4th Pentecost Party. Pentecost is the birth of the church so the youth are inviting us to the fellowship hall for some cake and lemonade after worship.

Sunday is Mother’s day. I have always tried to be aware on Mother’s Day that not everyone has had a positive experience with their mother. But I do hope that we all have had someone who has “mothered” us in a way that has nurtured us and built us up. It is also the case that the love that God shows to us in Christ contains both the love of father and mother. If your mom is still with us make sure you call her and tell her you love her. I think I’m going to call my mom right now. On Sunday for the Liturgy we are going to use “A Service for Mothering Sunday” from The Church of England.” See you on Sunday for worship.

Sincerely,

Rodney
