An Enote from Rev. Nancy

Friday, July 6, 2018

Hello, Church Family, happy Friday, and bring on some rain and cooler temperatures…Amen?!?

Remember the Celebration of Life for Costner McIntosh is tomorrow at 2PM. Thank you to all who are helping his mom Cheryl celebrate his life and welcome their guests.

This Sunday will be somewhat of a “back to normal” feel – small groups and Sunday School, sharing in worship, prayers, and singing  together. I appreciate your patience with the last few services running over with all the celebrations that have happened. I imagine we will be “on schedule” this Sunday even as we remember that on Sabbath days we are running on God’s time, not ours.

For our “Summer with Samuel” series, we continue in 2 Samuel 5:1-5, 9-10. Other scripture for the day continues our reading through  2 Corinthians 12:2-10 as well as a nationalistic Psalm 48 speaking of Zion (Jerusalem) as the capital city of David’s kingdom and eventually of the united kingdom of his rule. Having just celebrated July 4, it’s a good reminder of how we may feel a special reverence about visiting Washington, D.C. or another capital city.

Thanks to all who make last Sunday’s concert and Picnic on the Porch such a lovely fellowship and hospitable outreach to our community and closest neighbors. In addition to the relationship connections, we made over $800 (our goal was $500) towards the new HVAC Capital Campaign. We are halfway through the Campaign and have approximately $32,000 more to go. If you have not yet made a gift towards this effort, please consider doing so. We would love to meet this goal by Labor Day Sunday, September 2. No gift is too small!

Speaking of gifts, we delivered a carload of supplies for our LatinX sisters and brothers to BeLoved House today. Thank you for your generous spirit and love. They were overwhelmed with gratitude for the supplies.

See you Sunday and traveling mercies if you’re out of town!
