An Enote from Rodney

An eNote from Rodney

Friday December 4, 2015

Dear Trinity Congregation,

Over the last several weeks I have been watching you put together gift boxes and gift bags and gift cartons and gifts and then taking on another project and then asking me if I know of anyone who needs help.  Thank you so much for your generosity and witness.

Last week in worship we looked at Messiah, Christ and Anointed One as names for Jesus.  The lectionary Gospel lesson for this week from Luke 3 concerns John the Baptist and his preaching on repentance.  One of the names the Bible has given Jesus is Savior, who as we follow him offers us a way of repentance.  So we will look at the name Savior this week.

You may remember that last year at this time, Trinity, Skyland and Central UMC were preparing to host a formal public reading of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”  Central will be hosting the reading this year at the Orange Peel and the dates are December 12 at 7:00pm; December 13 at 2:30pm; and December 13 at 6:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

The Finance Committee has asked me to tell you that they are grateful for your financial support of our congregation.  If you have not had an opportunity to turn in a pledge form it is not too late.

Those forms are in the hallway behind the sanctuary, or we will be glad to mail you one.  You can send your pledge forms into the church office, place them in the collection plate on Sunday morning or you can make a pledge online from our website at www.trinitymethodistasheville.com.  Your giving maintains the vitality of our congregation and makes a difference in people’s lives.

A Request:  If you are mailing out a Family Photo Christmas Card this year, or if you have a favorite family Christmas picture would you mail one to the church? We would love to display them and if you need them back, we will not throw them away. Thanks and I will see you on Sunday.

Sincerely,

Rodney
