Pentecost 02

An Enote from Nancy

PENTECOST EDITION

(Remember, tomorrow’s Poverty Simulation has been postponed until the Fall.)

Pentecost is THIS Sunday! Wear Red orOrange tones and come ready to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit at TUMC and in our world!

Bring some Pentecost cheer to our RED WAGON this Sunday with paper product gifts for our partners at Trinity Place, an emergency Asheville homeless shelter for youth and runaways. The shelter is for runaway and homeless youth children from the ages of 7 – 17 where case managers provide support for youth and their families with the goal of family reunification or an alternative placement.

Also, remember the party continues at Camp Tekoa on Sunday afternoon, 2 – 6 PM. Bring sides and/or desserts (the church is providing drinks & main course) and friends (a great intro to show folks how fun we are!). If you need to ride on our van, please let Darryl Parker know (FYI – Darryl only uses a cell phone now – no home phone) and his cell # is (828) 215-6914.

Sunday’s Pentecost Worship Party is grounded in these focus scripture for the  day:

Acts 2:1-21

John 20:19-23

Because the Holy Spirit gives us strength and courage to serve God in the Kingdom of God here on earth, we TUMC’s Council decided to offer our West Asheville community another way to be the hands and feet of Christ as we collection donations for BeLoved AVL’s Sanctuary Support ministry with our LatinX family affected by the recent area ICE activity. Needed items include:

Diapers (all sizes, esp. 4-6)

Laundry & dish detergents

Toilet paper

Canned foods (esp. tomatoes, jalapeños)

Rice

Cooking oil

Bring your donations to TUMC between 9 AM and 2 PM Monday-Friday; Wednesdays 6:30 – 7 PM; or Sunday mornings 9 AM – 1 PM. We will deliver to BeLoved regularly.

See you Sunday!

Peace,
Nancy✜
