Waterfall in Sparta

An eNote from Rev. Nancy

Friday, July 20, 2018

This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas–
His hand the wonders wrought.

Hymn, “This is My Father’s World”

Tune, Terra Beata or “beautiful world”

Yesterday I made a quick trip to Sparta to do some work on our home there as we have entered the world of Air B&B while we await a contract on someone to buy it. It’s a lovely corner of God’s world, often with the loudest sounds being the breeze (it is at BRP milepost 237, “Air Bellows Gap,” after all). About a 25 minute walk from our front porch is a waterfall, tucked back off the road about 10 minutes. We’re making notes about places to visit for our guests who stay at the house and this is definitely a highlight. We wanted to walk it to make sure we gave good directions since there are no signs and I was able to spend a few quiet moments enjoying another sound of nature. Here’s a quick video of the top of the falls before it really drops off dozens of feet:

Where is your outdoor sanctuary? Where do you find God and sacred space outside the walls of Trinity, outside of any walls for that matter? Where might you whistle “This is My  Father’s World?” I’d love to see your pictures and share them through your favorite social media by tagging “Trinity WAVL” to link our church accounts –  TrinityWAVL Facebook,  @TrinityWAVL on Twitter, and/ or Instagram for Trinity WAVL.

Looking to Sunday, we’ll be talking about David’s desire to build a house for God as we continue our “Summer with Samuel” series. Scriptures for the day include:

Ephesians 2:11-22

Psalm 89:20-37

2 Samuel 7:1-14a

Remember our Caring for Creation light bulb distribution is tomorrow morning (Saturday), 9:30AM. Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!

Peace~

Nancy☩
