Friday April 3, 2015 Good Friday
An eNote from Rodney
Dear Trinity Church Family,
First I want to thank Andrew and the youth and Bryce Parham and Lee Thomas for making the Tenebrae service such a lovely experience last night.
Today is Good Friday. I walked out of Bruggers this morning just as the sky was starting to lighten up and birds were singing and a stock broker guy I know was talking about the market being closed today. Good Friday is a day that crackles with expectation. It is a somber day; between 6 and 9 this morning we can remember that Jesus will be interrogated, flogged and executed. We also know how it ends. As you go about today my invitation to you is to spend 5 minutes thinking about what God’s son is willing to do to heal over any separation that exist between us and his Father. It is a remarkable thing to ponder.
The story will be very different on Sunday morning.
-
At 7:20 we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on the front yard of Tom and Mary Jo Harrison’s home at One Glen Falls Road. That is on the north end of Beaver Lake on North Merrimon. The church bus will leave Trinity at 7:00am.
-
At 10:15 the children will have an Easter Egg hunt on the lawn of the church.
-
At 11:00 we will worship in the fellowship hall. There will be a basket at the altar for you to place your Lenten coin folders in. You can do this before you take your seat. Thank you for your collection which will go to international Methodist Missionaries and to the expenses of the mission trip to the Dominican Republic some of our members will be going on this summer. Make sure to put your name and the amount of your collection on the back of your coin folder.
-
We will celebrate communion this Sunday and we will have two stations, one on each side of the fellowship hall.
-
While the Easter Egg hunt is going on we will need the help of anyone who can help us move chairs into the fellowship hall.
This is a grand weekend upon us. Many will have family coming in or going to see family. It is also the weekend where more than at any other time we are aware that we are brothers and sisters in Christ, whose perishable body has put on imperishability and is the first fruits of a life with God that is offered to us all. I look forward to being with you this Sunday.
Sincerely,
Rodney
