An eNote from Rodney
Dear Trinity Congregation,
Kids were running up and down the hallway this week a lovely noise. This has been the week of Bible School and Camp Connect. The younger children were taught Bible lessons and did crafts; Sarah Pruett and Lindsay Pharr led them in that. Andrew, Mike & Allison Reece, Jane Ann Dempsey, Julie Ruch and Liam Tripp took the older kids in the van out into the community, where they did acts of ministry and then finished up with some fun. They filled food boxes and worked in a community garden, at Manna Food Bank and a clothing drive. Thank you to all who helped with that.
Our Independence Day, All-American Big Band Jazz Concert will be on Sunday July 3rd at 3:00 pm here at Trinity. This will be a concert by the Asheville Jazz Orchestra and I’m hoping vocalist Windy Jones will be singing with them. The concert will be a benefit for ABCCM Veterans Ministries and the Asheville Jazz Council. Weather permitting there will be lemonade and cookies under the trees after the concert. I will be promoting the concert on WCQS next Thursday at 1:06 pm. And maybe next Tuesday on WLOS very early in the morning.
Annual Conference came to a close last week but if you would like to see some of the highlights, here is a link to the Western North Carolina Conference Website where Annual Conference highlights can be found.
The sermon for Sunday will come from Luke 9: 51 – 62. Jesus is passing through a neighborhood where the residents don’t want to let him through. Some of the disciples are so angry they want to rain down fire on the blockers. Will Jesus remain calm? What’s the lesson for us? There are probably many lessons for us.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Sincerely,
Rodney
