Happy Friday!
It’s been an exciting week getting settled into life at 587 Haywood Road, and so many of you have so kindly stopped by, called, or emailed to introduce yourselves to Rev. Darryl and myself. Thank you! It may be summer, with a little less going on in the life of the church, but that does not include this week! Andrew and Company will arrive back late this afternoon after spending the night at the Zoo; serving for the Summer Lunch Program continues in the Brownwood Community. . .
. . . and tonight is the Aspects of Love Broadway Concert by our own Lee Thomas with Nolan Anthony at the piano. It’s free with donations supporting the Trinity choral program. Bring a friend and enjoy songs by Sondheim, Lerner & Loewe, Rogers & Hammerstein, among others. 8 PM tonight!
Sunday we will be “in the garden,” talking about seeds and soil with the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13 as our text. And the Red Wagon will make its rounds during worship. Remember, in July we are collecting paper products for Trinity Place Shelter for Homeless Youth. This is the only shelter of its type in Western North Carolina. They are always in need of toilet paper and paper towels so thank you for helping them out.
Then, beat the heat by attending a benefit concert by our own organist, Nolan Anthony, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher (2840 Hendersonville Road) at 3 PM. The program for this concert will include Organ Sonata No. 4 in B Flat Major by Felix Mendelssohn and piano selections by Brahms, Elgar and Ives. Cash donations as well as non-perishable foods will be gratefully accepted.
Sunday will be the first time Darryl and I get to worship, pray, and share the Good News with you, our new church family. We look forward to meeting many of you and hearing your God moments, the who, what, when, where (and sometimes even why!) of how God’s Spirit shows up in your everyday lives. That’s really Good News! Our families, Darryl and I look forward to sharing some cookies and lemonade with you after worship and beginning the conversations.
