Father’s Day Edition
Church family, have you heard the cries of joy going up all around Buncombe County? School…is…OUT!!! Ok, maybe that was only at our house, since many Asheville City Schools got out last Friday and they are now enjoying some well-deserved R&R at the beach. I’m thinking Trinity needs to host a beach retreat this time next year for Father’s Day? Who’s in?!?
If you’re in town this weekend, we’d love to celebrate God’s gifts to us through our church fathers, a new season and summer pace, and the baptism of Elijah Thomas Drake Dover this Sunday! If you are able, please bring a small amount of water from your home to put in the white pitcher for the sacrament of baptism. It’s also Red Wagon Sunday, and we’re collecting for the LatinX community: Diapers (all sizes, esp 4-6)
Laundry & dish detergents, Toilet paper, Canned foods (esp tomatoes, jalapeños), Rice, Cooking oil
Scripture for Sunday includes:
2 Corinthians 5:6-17
Psalm 72
And the “Spending the Summer with Samuel” sermon series text is 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13 (David anointed as King)
Our children and youth are helping to host a Father’s Day reception on the lawn following worship, so please plan to stop by and thank all our church men who care for our church family as well as greeting Elijah and his family.
And a few reminders for the coming week:
Our service to the Summer Lunch program begins next Wednesday, June 20. We need volunteers to assist middays on Wednesdays and Fridays through the summer. You may sign up through this Google Drive link:
Next Tuesday, our fellow missional network church, St. Paul’s UMC is hosting a special concert by a traveling UMC Youth Praise Band called “Fireproof” from Sunrise UMC in Holly Springs, NC. The concert is at 2PM, June 19, at St. Paul’s UMC, 223 Hillside Street, Asheville, 28801 (just off Merrimon Ave north of downtown). All are invited to attend!
See you Sunday…
or enjoy worship somewhere while you’re at the beach!
Peace and send us your sandcastle pictures, please~
