An Enote from Rev. Nancy

Friday, June 29, 2018

Welcome to the 2nd half of 2018! It’s hard to believe it, folks, but this Sunday is July 1, and we’ll be celebrating LOTS – Holy Communion, Vernon & Joyce Robinson joining the church, and our nation’s 242nd birthday! We’ll continue the stories of David in 2 Samuel 1:1, 17- 27. You may want to read the “in-between” part of the saga from 1 Samuel 18 (after David and Goliath) through the end of 1 Samuel to help set the context.

This past week, we’ve had lots of fun with Camp Connect kids of all ages in and out of the church and around Asheville.

We’ve also welcomed workers from Thompson Mechanical as they begin installation of the  new HVAC systems. Before they began, we reminded them that they would need a drill extension to get through these 1926 two feet thick walls! The gentlemen showed me the extension they had to come up with on their own (see picture!). They’ve also been through at least 7 drill bits…and counting!

Hopefully by end of next week the kids will have AC in the children’s chapel and youth rooms!

Remember this Sunday afternoon is the Asheville Jazz Orchestra’s Big Band Patriotic Concert at 3PM, with Picnic on the Porch following. Come join the fun and bring a friend to show and share the TUMC hospitality!
