An eNote from Trinity

Dear Trinity Congregation,

We are in transition. We said goodbye to Rodney this past Monday morning. Rev. Nancy Walton will officially be in the office this coming Monday, July 10th. Her first day in the pulpit will be a week from this Sunday, July 16th along with our new Associate Pastor, Rev. Darryl Dayson. So plan to stay after church for a reception in our church Fellowship Hall that Sunday to meet our new ministers and their family.

In the pulpit this Sunday, July 9th is Jane Boatwright Wood. James Pharr will be leading the service. Ms. Wood is president of The Foundation for Evangelism, an international grant-making organization seeking to equip growing generations of Christ followers – clergy and lay – to live out their passion for evangelism by inviting others to join them in life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.  She also has the honor of serving as Conference Lay Leader for the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church (2016-2020). A native of Western North Carolina, Jane received her BS from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and her MBA from Western Carolina University. Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked in the healthcare industry specializing in hospital administration, physician recruitment, and managed care contracting for both hospitals and physician practices. Between travel and UM meetings, Jane loves to hike, dabble in photography and paddle her kayak.

Andrew and the Dominican Republic group made it back to Asheville safely late Thursday evening.

Our Director of Music, Lee Thomas, is presenting an evening/afternoon of Broadway Love Songs, Aspects of Love, featuring songs by the great composers: Sondheim, Lerner & Loewe, Rogers & Hammerstein and more. Yes, TWO performances both taking place in the church Fellowship Hall:  Friday, July 14th at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 30th at 3:00 p.m. He will be accompanied on the piano by Nolan Anthony. You have time for dinner/lunch and then come to the church for entertainment and dessert. The concert is free, but there will be a basket for donation to support some future projects in our choral program.

Red Wagon Sunday, July 16th is almost here. For the month of July, we are collecting paper products for Trinity Place Shelter for Homeless Youth. This is the only shelter of its type in Western North Carolina. They are always in need of toilet paper and paper towels so thank you for helping them out.

Room in the Inn Trinity will be hosting Room in the Inn for the week of September 3 – 9. Room in the Inn is a faith-based program where faith communities agree to provide the basic needs of twelve homeless women for one week. As a host church, we will need church members to volunteer for a variety of roles. We will need food donations, financial donations, meal preparers, van drivers, evening hosts, and overnight volunteers. If you would like to participate in this ministry, there will be ways to sign up online or at church in the coming weeks. Lindsay Pharr, Julie Ruch, and Mary Catherine Scott are coordinating this effort. Please speak with one of them if you have any questions at this time

We look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.

Sincerely,
The Trinity Staff
