Annual Conference Edition!

Greetings, Church Family!

Pastor Darryl, Glenn Parham and I have been at Annual Conference these past couple days, filled with incredible singing, many conversations, reports, a few votes, and lots of smiles, hugs and reunions of seeing sisters and brothers within our United Methodist connection in Western North Carolina.

Did you know it’s the 50th anniversary year of the merger of the Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist Episcopal churches becoming the United Methodist Church? That’s been mentioned numerous times, not only to celebrate but to remember the ending of the segregated Central Conference within the Methodist church that was comprised of African American Methodist churches. We are all together now, thankfully, and we know we still have a ways to go.

If you are unable to make the ordination service tonight (van leaves Trinity parking lot around 5:45PM), you may watch the livestream broadcast through this link:  Ordination Service Live Stream

And if you’re able to join us for worship tomorrow morning, you will be delighted to hear from guest preacher, our own David Hertzinger, who will lead to consider anew the David and Goliath story from 1 Samuel 17:1-23; 32-49. Also, the choir will share a wonderful anthem and choral benediction on their last Sunday before a summer break.

Many of you have expressed concern over the stories of children separated from their parents on the borders of our country. Many have asked if there is anything else you may do. If you would like to meet with other church members following worship tomorrow to discern what you may feel called to do, I would like to give you time and space to gather in the Library to do so. I will be available to offer support to your concerns.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Peace~

Nancy✜
