New Year’s Day
Dear Trinity Church Family,
Happy New Year. I watched a lot of football yesterday and If you are a Clemson football fan (and we have a few) you are happy this morning. That was an excellent win over Oklahoma. The Bama shutdown of Michigan State was unexpected and not very engaging. I’m guessing there is a great championship game in our future.
Eagle Scout Ceremony: This Sunday, January 3, Trinity will host Josh Billings, Sam Cavagnaro and Neil Hutchins as they receive their Eagle Scout Awards. The service will be at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary. Refreshments will follow in the Fellowship Hall and everyone is invited to attend.
Online Giving: Cheryl has told me that if you entered an end date of 2015 on your online account you will need to re-up your account for the new year. I will ask our Finance computer guy Steve Van Reenen if there are any other instructions and let you know if there are.
It is time to take the Christmas decorations down. We will do this on Sunday after the reception for the Eagle Scouts. The takedown time is set for 5:00 pm.
Are you having your favorite new year’s day meal today? Cheryl and I go with the Pennsylvania German tradition I learned while living in PA-pork and kraut. We go informal with hot dogs and kraut.
Cheryl and I are on vacation this week. On Sunday our worship service will be conducted by Cathi Durham and our preacher will be The Rev. Avery White. Avery is the associate pastor at Groce UMC in Asheville and has preached at Trinity before. Her sermon title is “Good News of Great Joy”. Come and worship with her and I will see you at the Eagle Scout Award Service on Sunday afternoon.
Sincerely,
Rodney
