An eNote from Rodney

Dear Trinity Congregation,

It’s Good Friday: The day we remember the trial and execution of Jesus. Today will be a beautiful Carolina spring day. While you enjoy it, remember that it is the day that God was in Christ reconciling himself to the world.

Red Wagon Sunday: For the month of April, we will collect items for Trinity Place Youth Shelter, downtown. This is the only emergency youth shelter in our area and services homeless children and youth, 7 to 18 years old. They are in the need of paper products: toilet paper and kitchen paper towels. Thank you for helping with this request. Amy Hobson, their director is always appreciative of your generosity.

Good Friday Service: Will be held at Groce United Methodist Church this evening at 6:00. This is a combined service of several United Methodist churches in the Asheville Area. The theme will be the seven last words of Jesus and some of the churches will be bringing music. An abbreviated version of the Strings will play a song. Groce UMC is located at 954 Tunnel Road.

Easter Sunday Morning will begin at 6:30 at 1 Glen Falls Road for our Sunrise Service. This is just off North Merrimon Avenue at the top of Beaver Lake. We will begin gathering on the front lawn of the church at 10:00 for the Easter Egg hunt and fellowship. There will also be coffee and little bites on the front lawn. I believe we are expecting good weather and our front yard on Easter Sunday morning is a wonderful place to be.

Worship will begin at 11:00. The sanctuary is already full of lilies. We will not pull the Red Wagon through the sanctuary this Sunday. At the singing of the first hymn please bring an Easter lily that is close to you up to the front of the sanctuary. There will folks there to take and arrange them in front. There will also be a basket on the floor where you can place your Lenten folder and the Red Wagon will be up front to place your paper products in or around. It is a bit chaotic and it is lovely. The opening hymn is “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” Sing boldly.

Easter is a grand day at Trinity. I can’t wait to celebrate it with you.

Sincerely,

Rodney
