An eNote from Rodney
Dear Trinity Congregation,
Someone mentioned to me this week that I had not been putting the morning and evening prayers in the bulletin. For those of you enjoying those prayers I am sorry. They will be back in the bulletin this week. Thanks for the feedback.
This Sunday will be Pentecost Sunday which marks the birth of the church. You can read about that event in chapter 2 of Acts, verses 1-21. To celebrate Pentecost and as a thank you for your support, the youth would like to invite you to have some birthday cake after worship on Sunday. Plan to stay a few extra minutes and we will meet in the fellowship hall.
This is Little Red Wagon Sunday: For the month of May, we will collect for Asheville Middle School. They are in the need for individually wrapped or packaged snacks: fruit cups, chips, pretzels, popcorn, crackers, Cheez-Its, Goldfish, fruit roll ups, etc. Thank you for your generosity with this ministry.
Next Sunday, Trinity has Camp Tekoa for the afternoon. We can use the grounds and we are going to prepare hamburgers and hotdogs and drinks will be provided. Bring sides and desserts and friends. The lake (pond) will be available for swimming and there will be hiking or you can just sit on the porch or you can help me make some burgers and dogs. If you are swimming there will be a place to change. We have the campground from 2 until 6. I am looking forward to this, About three weeks before I graduated from college, I received a call from Duke Divinity asking if I would like to make a semester’s worth of tuition by working the summer at a Methodist camp. I said yes and my first exposure to North Carolina was Hendersonville and Camp Tekoa.
Again, thanks for the pictures of your mothers. You can take those off the board and start looking for a good picture of your dad for Father’s Day.
Save the date: June 5th, 2016. Trinity will be hosting the installation service of our new District Superintendent, the Rev. Beth Crissman. The whole district will be invited and the Bishop will be joining us. It will be a time to welcome Beth and also a time to remember and thank the Rev. John Boggs for all he has done for us over the last eight years. There will be a reception in our fellowship hall after the service. Since I will be worrying about this I am asking you to worry about it with me. In fact, maybe you can help pull some of the service together. I will be letting you know what we will need.
